February 9th 2024 – Heavy Bag

Feb 9th

Woke up early this morning cuz I had to pee! So that’s good that the sensations are coming back! I really gotta tune in and listen!

It’s about 9:30am, and usually this is when I’m first getting up(well, kinda…..) I lay on my tum for most of the morning to help stretch me out! Off to the gym this morning still!

It’s just trying to do more everyday. Trying to get my body moving in ways it can’t on its own in the wheelchair! Trying to get whatever I can moving!

Need to see what I can do for the driving school. It’s crazy. Cuz if you just continued to live life the way you could in a wheelchair, you would end up doing nothing. You would just lay around and not do anything. It would be disastrous, but sooooo easy to do!

The amount I’m feeling in my legs has been substantial! The hamstrings are being really meddlesome, very tight and not cooperating. Got work on them. Also my calves are nice and tight!

I think I’m gonna work on the website today and work on some flash cards, and get myself signed up for some driving school!

Last night was silly! I was really trying to get myself to perform, but more and more is happening down there! And I’m so freaking excited, because I can feel it on the horizons! It was actually a ton of fun either way, tbh….

It’s a giant struggle and balance of living life in this goofy chair, and working constantly on my legs! They’re getting there! They are coming back! I just gotta help them everyday and give em time!

It’s wild, I love it! When I do more and more exercises, I feel more and more in my legs!!!!

I’m at the gym right now, and I don’t want to stop working everything out! Every day! That’s what I gotta do! Using the Heavy Bag is cool for a cardio workout! What’s crazy, is using the smith machine to stretch and do pull ups has to be one of my most favorite things ever. The flexibility and usefulness of getting my arms stretched out is so freaking useful. My chest, delts, traps, Lats, are all so tight!!

So, I had a crazy idea….. what if what I’m doing by writing, posting, and thinking about all the feelings and sensations in my legs are helping re-establish the connections and motor functions in my legs? Like, I’m helping manually rewrite the code needed to get the legs moving? With physical therapy, words, thoughts, and the actions?

It’s really wild to have these thoughts and ideas. Today I’ve been revisiting the posts from September, as they have been getting more and more detailed! I’m really proud of myself, for actually taking the time to write about how I’m feeling!

Like right now, my belly was feeling extremely full and fat from all the food and liquids I was having today haha 😂 I don’t think that’s a problem, but it was kinda hilarious just thinking about that.

The sun outside in the gym was wonderful! I was really liking the warmth that was being generated from it all, I was warming up like a lizard 🦎!! Which was really nice!

Taking time to get all the thoughts out, the feelings and new sensations I’m having helps me solidify and reiterate what is actually going on inside me.

My legs were really stabilizing myself during the core workouts, as well as the boxing I was attempting 😂 I’m not very good, I need to learn how to punch a bag so I can beef up these baby hands 🙌

My feet right now are definitely having a nice delayed reaction to moving them! I’m trying to move my left foot right now, and the more effort I put in, the more difficult it can be? And there, as I stop trying, it’s like my ankle and foot is actually going to move? Less is more? Okay now the right foot…. Let’s see if it can do the same??

THE WASHING MACHINE SOUNDS LIKE ITS GONNA EXPLODE 🤯 hahahaha
