October 2nd 2023 – Car Ride

Oct 2nd

So the urge to have to go in the morning, paired with a more powerful stream while I straight cath all indicate to me that changes are happening down there!! There’s also been quite the stir down there as well, which I definitely feel in association with this most recent activity, any change is a good change!

My back and abdomen as well as my hips are engaging much more significantly with each passing day. The area of my tum and my legs that would feel spastic are definitely backing off. As is the tone in each leg! The left leg though, is a really really tight son of a gun. That’s why I’m trying to get on my tum each morning to get it stretched before therapy

The changes in sensation in my legs and feet is near constant. With different areas picking up my leg warmth, and I hope this morning my left leg keeps it up! For the past couple days only my left leg would get goosebumps, but this morning it’s not!

Yesterday I was attempting to move my left foot on the foot plate, push off my toes, and lift my leg, and it was responding!!

What’s also interesting is I can definitely feel myself sitting in the chair on my right side so significantly now that it honestly feels like my right leg gets in a position long enough for it to get “tingly” and “fall asleep” unlike times in the past where you could hardly even know it was there?! So it reminds me of what happens to folks without this injury, and how their body will give them a reminder to readjust, instead of putting a 15min timer on their watch

I’m really starting to actually try to sit myself out of the chair, and I notice how significantly I feel it in my legs! I have a hard time deciphering if it’s just the sensation of my legs moving, or if it’s also motor functions as well! Either way, feeling down there is a good sign!

These ribs tho…… as everything else is improving, I feel as though they are just doing their own thing! Not great, not bad, but over they’re just causing problems…. Like a wild child.

I’m really gonna work on standing myself up this week, I know from the squats and stuff I can do that! I’m just wondering what all else I gotta do!!!

So, even in the car ride, my legs are actively riding along in the passenger seat, they don’t just awkwardly move to the left, or to the right! They stay upright!!

Today at therapy I stood up for most definitely the longest time I have! Probably close to an hour and a half, I didn’t feel weird or anything at all!!!

My left leg is really feeling worked! Usually it was more biased towards my right, but my left is really feeling it! My left quad is really going off!

My abs and my stomach have never felt this “normal” in my entire time since the accident, it’s really interesting how working the muscles and trying to get the core engaged really helps!!

Today was probably the deepest I has breathed while I was standing up! I can definitely feel it in my back where my lungs are expanding!
