September 17th 2023 – Stand Tall

So this morning, I took the opportunity to do some leg thrusts, and some knee raises while I was laying down.

It was part of my meditation, sensing and feeling in tune with my body. And what I did I’m going to continue to do!

It was wild because I have some sensation most of the time for my hamstrings and glutes on the right side. So I used that as a focal point, when I’m thinking about straightening my leg, and really squeezing them, and in my quads, and really squeezing them to get them to lift while I’m in the bed!

So I tried to do a couple sets of 60, and my sensations in the legs, mid section, are going nuts

So my legs right now, even though there is still a small amount of movement, are FEEELING crazy!

Because, you don’t learn to walk overnight, and I realized l that I need to do whatever I can to get these legs working! So if I have sensation coming back, and I can feel what muscles in my legs are responding, you don’t get to squeeze your butt without thinking, I’m going to squeeze my butt! So I’ve realized that’s my first steps! I have been trying that, and I’m going to continue working on the areas I can feel, so the rest of the areas join in and wake up too!

So I’m going to keep working on the areas and the things I can feel! And keep up progressing thru my legs and areas!

So I was thinking about this, and i need to work on the motor functions and sensations I already have, since they are there! I was explaining this to my mother, and it made sense to her! I was asking her to try to “stand up very tall” and then asked her where she felt it, and she said the back of her legs, a little in her back, and her butt! And that’s where I am feeling sensation! More so on my right side, but at least a glimmer on the left!

So if i realize that right now my brain doesn’t really have many connections with my legs, if i work on the ones I have, and continue to “try” these types of exercises and are actually feeling things, then it’s working! I just need to do it more! So these more sensation, and more movement!

My mother had said when I was trying to stand up as straight as possible, she could see my legs moving when that was happening! So things are happening, I need to keep working on it!

I’ve been transferring into and out of the wheelchair without the slide board!!

I did most of the shower dressing myself! I haven’t put boxers, socks, pants, and shoes on myself, and I did all that!

I didn’t need any help washing! So much more sensation! And I was shedding a lot less!

Paul and I made it to the gym today! We had a good time, it was fun cuz this was one of the first times Paul was able to get to the gym in a bit! I like being able to go to the gym with my brothers, it’s a huge help knowing they are there.
